I made this advent calendar six years ago for The Hermit, before I realised the extent of his allergy to Christmas. I already have an advent calendar (with huge pockets!) so this has been languishing in a drawer for some time.
This year, I decided that it deserved a good home, so I stuffed the pockets with chocolate and gave it to my dad :o)

That is beautiful! My kids are in their 20's and still enjoy the advent calendars when I remember them. Your dad will really appreciate it. We forget how long the hours can be for seniors sometimes and how a little treat like that can brighten ones day.
I'm glad you described what you use stitch markers for - I knew about them for knitting, but could not for the life of me figure out how they were used in cross stitch!! LOL!
