World Aids Day Ribbon Biscornu - Free Cross Stitch Chart!

Today is World Aids Day. AIDS has led to the deaths of more than 25 million people world wide. In 2007 the AIDS pandemic killed an estimated 2.1 million people, including 330,000 children. It is estimated that over 33 million people are currently living with HIV/AIDS. One of them is a friend of mine, T. I was with him when he received his diagnosis. Although the counsellor was excellent, it was a terrible experience. T is lucky - he lives in a country with free health care, and with an established programme of treatment. His prognosis is as good as it can be. Many millions are not so lucky, doomed because of poverty, ignorance and prejudice.

This design is dedicated to T and to all those living under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

Wonderful design and what a cause to stitch it for! I know of a few people who are still trying to hide their diagnosis out of shame and fear. It shouldn't be that way! Best wishes to your friend.

And on another note, congratulations on completing NaBloPoMo!!

Well done on the design, how clever and a worthy cause. Looked back on your blog and saw that gorgeous shawl was lost in the post, how awful it is absolutely beautiful. And as a sock knitter love all your socks. You may be able to get that Opal Harry Potter at Gayes Yarns.. I saw it there yesterday. I bought my sock wool from her and I had a christmas card as evidently it is her first year of business.
Happy stitching and knitting
